Frequently Asked Questions
When does in-person check-in at the Convention start?
At 3:00 pm on Friday. There will be two meetings at 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm to jump-start your recovery, and the Opening Ceremonies start at 7:00 pm.
Can I still get a hotel room?
Convention rates apply until June 17th, however, once our block of discounted rooms are sold out, the price may increase so we suggest you book early.
Can I buy meals later?
To assure your meal, please buy before June 30th. Some meals will be available later but we cannot assure a meal will be available after June 30th.
Can I just listen to the lunch, dinner or breakfast speakers and not buy the meal?
No, you must have purchased a meal to listen to speakers presenting during the meals. Tickets will be collected. Other programming will be available during meal times.
Do the meals for purchase fit my plan of eating?
See Menu Page. Meals will contain no added sugar or fried foods and any white flour items. We have many different plans of eating; some people bring their own food. You may want to consult your sponsor.
Should I bring anything?
A journal and writing implements for note taking may come in handy. A sweater for cool nights and air-conditioned meeting rooms may also be helpful.
Can I sign up to give service when I show up at the convention?
It is preferable if you can sign up in advance, but please don’t hesitate to ask when you check-in. To sign up in advance please answer on the registration page or email [email protected].
Does the Convention have a dress code?
We suggest you bring a sweater. Evenings can be cool, and hotels are usually heavily air-conditioned. Californians are casual and diverse in their dress. Come as you are; clean and neat is appreciated.
Will the sessions be recorded?
Yes. Most sessions will be professionally recorded and available for purchase on the https://www.oar2.org/ website after the convention.
Is this Convention good for people new to OA?
We think so. If you are a newcomer, let us know. To current fellows, please support any newcomers you bring or know, and explain things to them, especially since OA is much more than the Convention.
