Regional Representatives

The Voice of your Intergroup  



Region Representatives (RRs) are the vital link between local intergroups and Region 2. They carry their intergroup’s conscience to the Region and bring back information and resources to strengthen local recovery.

  Each intergroup is entitled to one RR for every ten affiliated meetings (or fraction thereof). Unaffiliated groups may also send one RR. Travel and participation costs are typically covered by the sending group or intergroup.

  RRs attend Region 2 Assemblies twice a year, vote on motions, serve on committees, and help guide the business and direction of the region. They also keep their local intergroup informed about regional and OA-wide developments.


  RRs are selected by their intergroup in any manner consistent with the Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, and Twelve Concepts of OA Service.

Suggested Qualifications

Preparing Members for Effective Regional Service


Regional Representatives serve as the communication link between their service body and Region 2 and participate in the group conscience and service of the Region.

The following minimum qualifications are suggested for Regional Representatives:

  • One (1) year of current abstinence, as defined by Overeaters Anonymous.
  • Two (2) years of service beyond the group level.


The following qualities and experiences are also suggested to support effective service at the regional level:

  • Familiarity with the Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, and Twelve Concepts of OA Service.
  • Sound judgment and stability in service.
  • Experience participating in Intergroup, Region, or World Service business processes.
  • A willingness to serve as a communication link between their service body and Region 2.


These suggested qualifications are intended to help service bodies identify members who are prepared to participate fully and effectively in regional service.
