In the first Information Bulletin, we shared general information about the upcoming event. The second bulletin was devoted to costs, and now, we’re focusing on FUNDRAISING! We wanted to share some ideas on what YOU (individual members, meetings, and Intergroups) can do NOW to help meet our fundraising goals. Here are some suggestions on how you can assist in the fundraising whether you’re going to the event in-person or virtually! Calling all craftspeople, artisans, and builders! We all love handmade items, such as: Paintings, Framed Photographs, Quilt, Afghan, or other cuddly article, Knitted hat, gloves, scarves, Jewelry, Hand-crafted jewelry or GOD BOX, Birdhouse, Small windmill. How about donating cool merchandise, such as: Air Fryer, Fitbit, Smart Watch, Tablet, Big Screen TV, Kindle or other e-reader. And, don’t forget very popular GIFT BASKETS. They can be filled with recovery-related literature and such, self-care products, coffees, teas, etc. We will also gratefully accept CASH! Yes, cash. We’d like to make some money trees and purchase additional fundraising items. These are just a few ideas. We’re sure Intergroups, Meetings, and individual members will be able to come up with even more wonderful offerings. Region 2 covers California, Hawaii, the Reno/Tahoe area of Nevada, and all of Mexico. The 2024 Convention will be held in SUNNY SACRAMENTO, CA, July 12th through 14th, 2024. If you’re not able to travel to Sacramento – fear not. There will be a virtual component to this year’s convention! But seriously, wouldn’t it be grand to see everyone in person?!? Curious about Why Region 2 Hosts a convention every year? Well, let me tell you: The purpose is three-fold: First, it’s to encourage unity within the region, and throughout OA; Second, the convention program is designed to enhance everyone’s recovery, whether someone is brand new to OA or a seasoned veteran; and third, it is the Region’s main fundraiser that allows us to carry the message of hope and recovery from the compulsive eating. There will be workshops, speakers, and marathon meetings throughout the weekend, lead by a diverse group of speakers who carry the message of recovery, and live by the OA principles. And, of course, we love to have fun, so check out our hospitality room for fun activities and, on Saturday night, put on those dancing shoes and enjoy a live performance from a popular, local rock and pop cover band! This - and so much more - is waiting for YOU. The OA R2 Convention, Sacramento Style, will take place at the recently-remodeled Hilton Sacramento Arden West hotel, where you can enjoy a comfortable room at a discounted rate. Details about registering for the convention and booking a room can be found on the oaR2.org website. And stay tuned for another exciting podcast episode of The 2024 OA R2 Convention, Sacramento Style!
