Convention FAQ
For In-Person Participants
When does in-person check-in start?
At 3:00 pm on Friday. Two meetings are at 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm to jump-start your recovery, and the Opening Ceremonies start at 7:00 pm.
Can I still get a hotel room?
Convention rates apply until June 21, 2024. After that call (916) 922-4700 for best available rate. Parking is FREE for overnight guests.
Can I buy meals later?
To assure your meal, buy before June 30. Some meals will be available later but we cannot assure you a meal later.
Can I just listen to the dinner or breakfast speakers and not buy the meal?
Sorry, no.
Do the meals for purchase fit my plan of eating?
See Menu page. Meals will contain no added sugar or any white flour items.
Should I bring anything?
A journal for note-taking may come in handy. A sweater for cool nights and air-conditioned meeting rooms may also be helpful.
Can I sign up to give service when I show up at the convention?
It is more helpful if you can sign up in advance here, but do ask when you check-in.
Does the Convention have a dress code?
We suggest you bring a sweater. Our evenings are usually cool, and hotels are usually heavily air-conditioned. Californians are casual and diverse in their dress. Come as you are; clean and neat is appreciated.
Are you taking COVID precautions?
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU FEEL UNWELL. Other than that simple request, we encourage you to do what works for you. Wear a mask if you feel comfortable doing so. The facilities are spacious; you will not be crowded. The Sacramento County COVID Health Guidelines are in place at the Hotel.
How will I get the Zoom links for the Convention sessions?
Zoom links are sent to your registration email. If you registered for In Person attendance, you may also participate online for any portion of the weekend.
Will the sessions be recorded?
Yes. Most sessions will be professionally recorded and available for purchase on the OAR2 website after the convention.
Is this Convention good for people new to OA?
We think so, but we hope that you will support any newcomers you bring, and explain things to them, especially since OA is much more than the Convention.
